VASI YOGA – Its Meaning & Role in Vedic Astrology

Yogas are of utmost importance in Vedic astrology. But, one needs a lot of expertise and skill to interpret the relative strength of them and determine how effective they really are in astrological predictions.

Yogas are formed when certain specific planetary combinations occur in a horoscope. These yogas may be benefic or malefic depending upon their placement in the chart. There are hundreds of yogas which are considered for the purpose of analysing a horoscope.

In this article, Vasi Yoga of Hindu Astrology is explained which may be benefic or melefic in nature and said to occur under the following circumstances:

·      When there is/are planet(s) except Moon, Rahu & Ketu in twelfth house from Sun, Vasi Yoga is formed.

·    However, the result of this Yoga depends upon the presence of the benefic or malefic planet(s) in this house. If benefics occupy the twelfth house from Sun, Subhavasi Yoga is caused; and if there are malefics in the twelfth house, the yoga is called as Papavasi Yoga. Subhavasi Yoga gives good results whereas Papavasi Yoga would yield bad results

Results: The person having benefic planet(s) in twelth house from Sun will be spiritual, liberal, prosperous and would lead a happy life. He is also liked by the government and senior authorities.

On the other hand, if malefic planet(s) occupy the twelfth house from Sun, obviously, quite the reverse holds good and the native will face many problems in life.

One more thing that the readers of this blog should keep in mind is that the above- mentioned effects of this yoga are general in nature. It is very important to take into consideration the strength of the planets forming this yoga and the house and its lord, location of the lord, the exaltations and debilitations of the house-lords, conjunctions, planets in that particular house and various aspects over it, before arriving at any conclusion.
